Quiet Now is a jazz ballad written for the piano by Denny Zeitlin. The first recording, from 1965, features Zeitlin live at the Trident with Charlie Haden on bass and Jerry Granelli on drums. Bill Evans, who loved the piece, recorded it for his 1969 album Quiet Now, and the track also appears on Evans’s 1979 Paris concert. The 1981 album Quiet Now on the Affinity label presents Evans with Eddie Gómez and Marty Morell. The tune is known for its lyrical mood and rich inner harmonies, and it reflects a shared sensibility between Zeitlin and Evans in their approach to piano and rhythm.
